During this century, Dental research has produced a great amount of knowledge related to the cause of the principal oral diseases, but they are still here. It may surprise you to know that 50% of adults over age 18 and 75% over age 35 have some degree of gum disease.
It is never too late to start fighting back. Your Dental Team can remove calculus from your teeth, fill cavities and treat gum disease that already appeared. But daily dental care is in your hands.

Advances in modern dentistry and new preventive tools are helping you to keep your mouth healthier than before. Your own daily effort, together with regular professional care, will ensure that you keep a healthy smile that lasts a lifetime.

Oral Hygiene

Oral hygiene consists in removing the dental plaque. Dental plaque is a sticky colorless deposit of bacteria. It is continuously developing in the mouth and causes gum problems and cavities. Dental plaque accumulates mainly at the point where teeth and gums meet, and also between any two teeth. If the dental plaque is not removed every day, bacteria reproduce and grow colonies. Then, the dental plaque hardens and builds up tartar; and the tartar provides dental plaque with a rough surface for it to rest on. Deposits of tartar can only be removed by your Dentist.

Although dental plaque is the main cause of mouth problems, other factors may increase the possibility of diseases. Hormonal imbalances such as diabetes, thyroid disorders and pregnancy, some medicines and hereditary factors may increase the risk and seriousness of a disease. There are tests available to Dentists with which such factors can be identified. Now you can learn how high your risk of developing oral diseases is.
